Migration of 1C to the cloud. Tips to facilitate the transition

Cloud infrastructure ensures the security and confidentiality of your data, the ability to recover accounting information without loss and protection against force majeure.

Why choose the cloud and is it really suitable for everyone? Let’s explain:

  • CapEx vs OpEx. The advantage of cloud solutions is that there are no capital costs when starting a project, expanding or reducing resources.
  • Elasticity. The step of resource scaling can be matched to your requirements as much as possible. We do not use template configurations of virtual machines. Due to this, you do not have to expand the number of processors while expanding RAM and vice versa.
  • Security. The cloud is not a panacea. Even in the case of the transition to a cloud infrastructure, data security must be comprehensively addressed. The data is stored in a data center, and the connection to the cloud server from your devices is usually carried out via a secure encrypted channel.
  • The cloud is not for any company. And this is also important to consider. If the scope of your IT infrastructure looks like 2 independent self-sustaining data centers with their own staff, then most likely you do not need such a solution. Still, we can offer such companies cooperation in colocation or lease of infrastructure for some services that need to be outside their own data center.

If the cloud infrastructure is suitable for the companies, they should treat the migration process responsibly. How shall they do it? Let’s discuss it further.

Choose your service provider carefully

Not only for the price – that’s very relative. The key parameters are the technologies used, the services included in the package, and the availability of technical support. If possible, test the services: companies may write whatever they want on their websites, but in fact not everyone can maintain good service.

More detailed tips on choosing a provider:

  • Price/quality. The cost of cloud infrastructure from some providers can be very attractive, but as we know, the only free cheese is in the mousetrap. And the quality of such services can be disappointing. The high price, in its turn, may have excess performance behind it. Only load testing or a test scenario for reproducing the load of your service can show whether you need it or not.
  • Agreement. All items promised in the commercial offer must be clearly stated in the official contract. Pay special attention to the terms of signing, the minimum period and penalties for non-compliance with the terms by both parties of the contract.
  • Ability to test the service. Testing enables you to check the technical component of the service (conformity with the requirements, performance, convenience, delays, etc.). As well as the procedure of dealing with the specialists of technical support.

Additional requirements to the service provider include:

  • possibility of data backup;
  • no hidden fees – for traffic, data transmission channel, licensing, backup;
  • availability of monitoring and support;
  • technical support – service and speed of response to your questions.

Prepare to migrate properly

Before migrating to the cloud, it is necessary to analyze some seemingly banal things:

  • Volume of licenses and cost of their potential growth.
  • Current volume requirements and own resources.
  • Problems with 1C operation – for example, low speed, fault tolerance, distribution of roles on virtual machines.

Smooth migration to the cloud with Colobridge

The migration of your services to the cloud will be almost imperceptible and very fast. Colobridge technicians organize the process so that it does not interfere with work or cause any discomfort to your employees.
